Statement:

I have over 15 years experience counseling with individuals, couples, and families and work to help those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, behavioral disorders, marital and family conflict, parenting difficulties, and challenges associated with adolescence.

I want therapy to be a positive experience for you. I understand that you have values, hopes, and dreams that are important to you, and I will do my best to respect them and, as appropriate, help you build upon them. I will work hard to tailor the therapy experience to fit your needs and personality.

In general, my therapy tends to be directive, cognitive, behavioral, and eco-systemic. Directive means that I often make specific suggestions and/or give assignments for you to complete between sessions. Cognitive means that I place a strong emphasis on patterns of thought that may contribute to the way you feel and behave. Behavioral means that I help you establish specific goals of behavior change, and work to help you identify reinforcements and consequences that might facilitate, or hinder, your efforts toward positive change. Eco-systemic means that I take into account how family, culture, and society perpetuate and reinforce both positive and negative life patterns.

I provide counseling in Springfield, Illinois, but also have options to serve individuals outside that area.  Call today and see how I can help you.
